Young animals provide so much joy, but require a great deal of care and responsibility. Our staff at Affordable Animal Hospital in Covina is eager to work with you every step of the way so you have the right information to insure your new furry family member lives a long, happy, healthy life.
Puppy and Kitten Exams
It’s important to bring your new puppy or kitten in for a visit as soon as possible. Early and regular health checks and immunizations are incredibly important to lifelong health for puppies and kittens. It’s also a great opportunity to familiarize your new pet with regular vet visits so there is less stress in the future. Practice makes perfect, and regular vet visits will keep your little dog or cat flourishing for the long term.
Exams normally include vaccinations for common conditions, screenings for parasites or common illnesses, treatment for those conditions if necessary, and preventative treatments such as flea and tick treatments or microchipping.
Your first exams will also provide education for your role as a new pet parent, including:
- Dental Care
- Vaccinations
- Proper diet and nutrition advice
- Training (behavioral and house training)
- Spay and neutering options
- Any congenital issues or concerns
By establishing healthy habits early, your new puppy or kitten (and you) will be more likely to maintain those healthy habits for the rest of their lives.
